Today I thought I’d make a little bit more of an effort for work. I decided to go all out and wear a tie. No reason, I just thought it would make a nice change.
I’ve worked for my current place for nearly 3 years (feels longer, but in a good way). Like many places the operate a no need to wear a tie if you don’t want to attitude. So like myself (until today), most people choose not to bother. Opting for the trousers and shirt only option.
Just before I started with the company I bought a few new suites. So I’ve hardly warn them. I was going to go for the full suit option, but thought I’d break them in slowly by just adding a tie to my normal Monday shirt. (I don’t wear the same one every Monday).
I was in for all of 2 seconds, had not even sat down really and I was asked where my interview was. Grrrr. This continued through the day. With a few “you look smart today, what’s the occasion?” comments. I’ve decided to step it up and go in with a full suit.
How long before I get the comment of “so, you got a second interview”. I want some sarcastic reply, but not sure what just yet.
So if you want to look good in the office or generally look smart. Just add a tie!

Work Update
What a week. Work was a very busy week, but managed to get all done as planned. It was confirmed that the company I work for have been bought out by another company, but seems it will be a while before I know if the team I work in will be affected. It means that for now I am not buying anything unless it is something that I need to buy. Also feels like I can’t really plan a holiday for the summer. It’s so dam hard to find a job you enjoy these days and then be able to keep in the same job for long. I’m hoping that they will still need me, but time will tell.
Poker Site
After a busy week in work I was looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend, as over the next few weeks I have a few busy weekends coming up. Next weekend my brother is here and we are going to the London Affiliate Conference (LAC). Hoping for a few parties and a few drinks. Before then we are hoping to get the new poker site up and running. We have seen the PSD file mock up and is just being coded. Looks very different to the current site, but that is a good thing. We are going to use the old template for another site.
Apple Mac
I bought a MacBook pro last year and have been loving it, but have a few things that I still need to do on windows, so this afternoon I am going to try to install windows on my Mac. Urgh, just the thought of it makes me shudder. I’ve read that it should all be simple and can be removed if it goes too wrong.
Oh
Today I walked Bailey for a few hours and managed to pick up a really nice Travel Bug. Mission is to travel to Silverstone, so will have to travel a bit further in a few weeks to help on it’s way.
I’ve also been busy updating my blog with new follow and Social Networking intergration options.

An article in tonights evening standard made me pause to think. It’s about the fact that Jonathan Ross quit due to his contract not being re negotiated. They are asking would you feel unwanted.
I think that what ever organisation you work for these days they don’t really give a flying poo about their employees. All they seem to care about is themselves and the shareholders. Making so much money that they can’t actually spend it at a reasonable rate.
You only have to look at the other news article today. Where Cadbuys have sold out to Kraft. A move that will no doubt mean job losses for the hard working UK based employees. While shareholders sit there getting fatter. Even more annoying about this I that it has all been financed by RBS which is 84% owned by the British Tax payer.
At the end of the day there is very little loyalty between a company and it’s employees. While I try to always do the best job I can. I also feel that who ever I worked for I would be nothing more than a number on the payroll. So if faced with a situation it makes things rather easy to decide. A company I used to work for had very proud employees that when retired at 65 had been working there since being a teenager. Never changed company and had never seen a p45. 1 job all their life. Compared to most people today having 8jobs by the age of 30.

So last week I had my review in work. After my last one I was worried about it a bit. However I didn’t need to be worried. It seems that my old manager was just some sick twisted loser.
New manager is happy with my work, technical knowledge of the systems. Also said that the way I had trained both him and the other memeber of staff on the system was fantastic.
So overall I’m:
Good worker
Good trainer
Dedicated team player
Good technical system knowledge
Normally I would maybe have asked for a title change or salary increase, but think for now I’ll play it by ear. Seeing as there is a stop on increases.
Still it gave me a good confidence boost to maybe try things outside my cosey zone.
Happy days

Well I’m nearly done with my second month in work. Things have gone a little bit better this month. With my understanding getting a bit better, but I still feel a bit lost with the bigger picture.
We have a number of checks in place, as you would expect with payroll. The checks sometimes go a bit deeper, because of sox.
I didn’t do this last month as much, but I really want to get my head round the whole situation.
I have a week off next week and will be going up to my dads. This will involve chilling, website manipulation. As we have another website we are putting together – www.ukbingoreviews.co.uk where we will give our opinion on the likes of foxy bingo, gala bingo and also jackpotjoy. I already have a dislike for jackpotjoy, but the bingo seems to be very popular. The thing with playing bingo online, means you can chat, smoke and be able to watch your TV programs; all without the need to leave your home. Why not set up a few pc’s on a small network, so Betty and Alice can pop round and play to. There are plenty of people able to help. Even pc world now offer a service to set your pc up in your home.
3 days left in work and then off for a week. Woohoo. How much work will I have on my return. I’m scared.
