Fitnesst first never again

This is basicaly going to be my letter to fitness first.

About this time last year I joined up with fitness first in Romford. The membership fee was ok, but it took 6 weeks after me joining before I was given the operrunity to have my induction and health check. I was only offered this after I actually called them to find out what was happening and pointed out to them what if I get an injury from using equipment that they have not shown me how to use or assesed my health. Of cause this is all overed in their t&c’s so they are not liable.
I eventually got booked in and I did have a few good sessions of going. I used to really enjoy going to the gym, but things changed and by the time I get home it is just to late. I thought that this might change, but I just lost all interest in going.
After a few months of not going and knowing I was tied in to a 12 month contract I decided to cancel my Direct Debit with the intention of going in to cancel my membership, but like going to the gym I just never had the time.

A couple of weeks ago I got a call from the head office saying I owed a month due to me cancelling my DD. This was my own stupid fault and I would have paid it over the phone had the person calling me not spent most of the phone call trying to offer me different deals. Which part of ‘no I want to just cancel my membership’ they didn’t understand I’m not sure. I eventually just said Ive not got time and just write to me. I got home a couple of days later asking for the payment, which I didn’t get round to making as I had to call them between 9-5 and couldn’t sort it out in the gym. I had every intention of paying this, but when I call they just try to sell different options. The following day I had a call again. I told them that I will sort out soon, but I was busy in work and didn’t have time. I then just put the phone down. Then Friday I got home and they had sent me another letter making a demand for the money. How very dare you. I tried to call but you are not there weekends.
Today 21 feb 2010, I went in to the Romford gym and said I want to cancel my membership. I was thrown a form and asked to fill it in. When done I asked if I can pay the amount I owe and they said no I need to call member services and I can’t give notice while I owe a month. How stupid is that policy.
I will be phoning on Monday and making a full complaint. The sooner I see the back of fitness first the better. You cause nothing but stress. I’ve got more chance losing weight by not going to one of your poxy gyms.

I was going to just cancel until I maybe have the time to go again, but I will never join fitness first ever again. I urge anyone else who is a member and not using you to cancel and stop funding such a bunch of idiots.

Good bye fitness first and hope our paths never cross again. Your gyms are crap and you don’t offer ther service you promise.
